Fascia is your body’s connective tissue that runs from head to toe without interruption. It surrounds & permeates every muscle, bone, nerve, blood vessel & organ, down to the cellular level. It’s densely woven throughout your body, in a continuous three-dimensional web.
In it's normal healthy state, fascia is relaxed, with the ability to stretch & move without restriction. During physical or emotional trauma, poor posture, surgery, scarring, stress or inflammation, your fascia becomes tight & restricted. This leads to pain & impaired motion.
When one area of fascia begins to tighten, excess pressure or tension is placed on surrounding areas, which pulls on other parts of your body. Because your fascia is all interconnected, these restrictions become cumulative throughout your body.
It's important to note that these fascial restrictions do not show up in any of the current medical tests (x-ray, MRI, CAT scan, electromyography, bloodwork etc). This has caused fascial related problems to be commonly ignored or misdiagnosed.
